I have set a goal to visit all 50 U.S. states by the time I turn 50 years old. Now, a lady never reveals her age, but… I have 10 years and 22 more states to complete this goal. The things I still want to experience are all different, but also such a testament to what America has to offer. Here are just a few."

I simply must see the warm colors of Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park. My family enjoys the outdoors and hiking here will be a dream come true. Also, I want to see the Grand Canyon’s West Rim by helicopter, land on the floor and enjoy a picnic lunch there. That will be incredible.

My oldest son is graduating from high school next year, so we would love to walk along the cobblestone streets of Boston, Massachusetts where Paul Revere once made his famous midnight ride and stand at the sites of the Boston Massacre, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Boston Tea Party. It will be such a special memory to have with my history-loving-kid before he goes off to college.

Oh, and I can’t forget whale watching. I want to grab some binoculars and head to the coast of Maine to see these beautiful creatures out in the Atlantic Ocean. We will snap some post card worthy pictures of lighthouses and eat a delicious lobster roll at an authentic lobster shack, looking out at the water. Yum!

As a military family, we have such a high regard for our servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate price for this amazing country. So, all of us in our household desire to visit the USS Arizona Memorial and the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. I can imagine how somber it must feel there. What an opportunity to share with our kids?

There are so many more places on my list. I could go on and on. The time frame is important to me too. When I have my “fifty by fifty,” all three of our boys will have graduated from high school. Family vacations will look differently, and hubby and I will have all kinds of new travel goals. Dream lists, or bucket lists are so much fun to create, and it’s even better when the planning is in motion for those dreams to become a reality.”
