Operation: All 50 States
“Like most Club Wyndham owners, my husband and I love to travel."
Although visiting foreign countries and all-inclusive beach paradises has its appeal, my goal in retirement has been to see what’s in our own backyard. A few years back, we set out to see how many of our beautiful 50 states we could visit.
We started this process by first making a list of all the places we’ve been. My husband and I have been married for 44 years, so we shared most of our travels together and had pretty much been to the same states. We found that we had covered the East Coast, been to the far and exotic (Alaska and Hawaii), and of course to California and Nevada. But we were missing most of the Midwest and South. We began our concerted effort to see the states we hadn’t visited.
We started by flying to San Antonio and enjoyed our stay right on the River Walk at Club Wyndham La Cascada. The location was amazing. We enjoyed the restaurants and ambience, and of course we can now say we remember the Alamo!
Next, we took a different route when we drove from Connecticut to our home in Florida. We enjoyed as many Club Wyndham properties as we could along the way. We stayed in the Poconos, the Smoky Mountains, Nashville, then La Belle Maison in NOLA and Emerald Grande in Destin.
My favorite memories of this trip were the amazing music in Nashville and the excitement of New Orleans. Not only did we enjoy the food, hurricanes, and cemetery tour, but we were able to walk to the WWII museum, where my husband found a jacket from his father’s B-17 bomber crew.
Now we’re down to what seems to be an attainable six states. We’re planning to fly to Oregon in the fall, and we have reservations in May to spend three nights at Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Bay in Arkansas and three nights at Branson at The Meadows in Missouri. I already have tickets to see Howie Mandel’s show in Branson, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Arkansas has to offer.
I can honestly say the trips I’ve taken where I was able to stay in my Club Wyndham timeshare were the most enjoyable.”
