Attending a luau — a traditional Hawai'ian feast — is a festive and interactive way to celebrate Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. While all closed for now, Kauai offers an array of venues where you can experience the incredible sights and sounds of an authentic luau when it is safe to do so. On the North Shore, you can attend the family-owned and -operated Smith Family Garden Luau. On the historic Kilohana Plantation, the Luau Kalamaku delivers an evening of live entertainment and ceremonial cuisine. 'Auli'i Luau features an oceanfront luau with a four-course buffet and performances of cultural art forms from Hawai’i, Tahiti, and Samoa.  

Hawaiian culture is as beautiful as the islands they call home, and the tradition of Hula has preserved the stories of Hawaiian history since ancient times. Hula kahiko (ancient hula) is a ceremonial dance accompanied by an oli (chant) and percussion. Hula 'auana (modern hula) is more informal and usually paired with singing and a ukulele or guitar. Hula dancers spend years learning and perpetuating the art form of their culture through different hālaus (hula schools). You can witness the beauty and sacred power of hula at one of Kauai’s many venues; but if you do happen upon a ceremonial Hula performance, remember to only take pictures if permission has been given, as a way to show respect to the dancers and their culture.

Visit the epic backdrops of some of your favorite Hollywood blockbusters on a movie tour or by exploring on your own. The North Shore boasts many famous locations that are easy to access.
